It is still unclear whether there are corona mutation cases at the Bayreuth Clinic.
Nevertheless, employees are marginalized and denounced in public.
Bayreuth
- First there was the famous light at the end of the tunnel - the
corona vaccination *
.
But the euphoria was quickly slowed down again when
corona mutations * were
discovered
all over the world
.
At first these cases were far away in Great Britain, South Africa or Brazil.
But now that the first suspected cases have also been reported in
Bavaria
- such as in the Bayreuth Clinic - fear is growing among the citizens.
Especially in Bayreuth it is now taking on extreme blooms.
Corona in Bayreuth: Exclusion of clinic employees
Last week, those responsible at the
Bayreuth Clinic
noticed an increased number of infections.
Then 30 randomly selected employees and patients were tested.
The result was
eleven suspected cases
of the highly contagious corona mutation * from the United Kingdom B.1.1.7.
After another series test, there were another 21 positive tests.
From then on, twelve employees were also considered suspicious cases.
This makes a total of 23. The clinic reacted immediately.
Employees were no longer allowed to use public transport to get to work.
In addition, a
patient admission
freeze was imposed.
As if the situation of the slightly over
3,300 employees were
n't already difficult enough, they have now been massively marginalized in the population.
As the press spokesman for the clinic, Frank Schmälzle, reports, an employee was expelled from a gas station because she had a
clinic parking permit
in her car.
Another colleague's child was
isolated
in
emergency care
.
“It was only allowed to play alone all day.” And neighbors of an employee had complained to the hospital because the woman without an
FFP2 mask * had used
the communal laundry room.
Corona in Bayreuth: Citizens show solidarity with clinic employees
The behavior is unacceptable to the press officer.
“With all legitimate concerns: our employees who come into contact with patients are tested daily.
That is a
level of security
that can hardly be increased, ”writes Schmälzle on the clinic's Facebook page.
“Colleagues are probably even
less risky
than any other citizen.” And at the end of his post he emphasized again: “We do not pose any particular danger.
You don't have to applaud us.
But please
treat us humanely
. "
This
appeal apparently had an effect
.
It has been shared more than 2,700 times and got over 2,400 likes.
Many showed understanding for the employees and a lack of understanding for the exclusion.
"Your kids are still welcome here and are part of their usual group!" Wrote the BRK Kinderhaus Bayreuth.
And even a dedicated
Facebook group for employees
was set up.
It is called “Help for Bayreuth clinic employees”.
There, volunteers organize relief services for employees who are, for example, in
quarantine
.
The public group already has more than 100 members.
Corona in Bayreuth: Suspected cases will probably be confirmed
Meanwhile, hopes are dwindling that the Corona * suspected cases could not be the
mutation from Great Britain
.
The clinic is preparing for confirmation of the 23 suspected cases, explains Schmälzle.
“Such suspected cases are by no means expressed lightly.
We firmly believe that we actually have the
mutation in the house
. ”The
additional precautionary measures
still
apply until Wednesday
.
But it is unlikely that the results of the examinations will be available by then, according to the clinic.
