The use of politics unites them. The two conservatives and specialists in conserving the government and annulling rights.

It is very difficult for each of them to ever hear about the other.

But they have a few things in common and you could try a kind of

partial, curious and tremendous parallel lives

.

Both are at risk age for the virus, they were born in the 1950s and their governments resist any democratic virus: they have been clinging to power since before the mid-1990s. They managed to fix their constitutions and sanction themselves eternal re-election.

Alexander Lukashenko has ruled Belarus since 1994. He is going for 27 years as president.

Gildo Insfrán has governed Formosa, one of the poorest provinces, since a year later.

He will turn 26 as governor or, rather, feudal lord

l.

The two always win elections by 70% and sometimes by more.

Voting is a necessary condition for democracy, but not sufficient.

And they are both conservative.

Especially the government.

Lukashenko was the only member of the Supreme Soviet who voted against the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Insfrán was from the Guardia de Hierro, a Peronist group that supported Isabel Perón and

after the coup supported Admiral Emilio Massera

.

And both are so popular that few are encouraged to criticize.

In Belarus this is practically prohibited by law.

The security agency that the state ruthlessly uses against opponents is still called the KGB, like that of the former USSR.

In Formosa, Insfrán protects itself with protectors.

One is Alberto Fernández, who called him "

a model for democracy

."

And his investigative envoy for a day, Horacio Pietragalla, said that "it

is almost a joke

" to affirm that there are detention centers in Formosa.

The Secretary for Human Rights trivializes complaints of human rights violations.

He is an official of Fernández and it was to be expected that this would be the case, although in human rights it should not be that way.

Amnesty International condemned this politicization of human rights and asked it to investigate seriously.

No joke

.

When the pandemic broke out, Lukashenko said that

drinking 100 milliliters of vodka a day would serve to poison the virus

.

Insfrán has the best scores for infected and dead, but the statistics do not count people in isolation by force.

They ignore Mauro Ledesma, drowned in El Bermejo wanting to enter the province to see his daughter.

15 priests denounced the abuses and

two councilors who protested were arrested

.

The senator of Insfrán, José Mayans, said elementary and eloquent: "

In a pandemic there are no rights

."

As is classic, later he said that he did not say what he had said.

There is a kind of law: a

long time in government equals the risk of a lot of corruption

.

Insfrán is the co-star of a famous bribe in the Kirchner era: the two million dollars that he paid to Minister Boudou so that as minister he could refinance Formosa's debt with the Nation.

The investigation that was carried out here ended in the Formosan justice.

Another favor:

Insfrán will be acquitted

.

In Belarus it would not even have been investigated.
