The day of lovers is just around the corner.

Couples celebrate Valentine's Day in very different ways.

Flowers are a part of most people.

Florists have less rosy prospects this year.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - Actually, it is one of the busiest days of the year.

But florists will be hit twice as hard on Valentine's Day this year.

On the one hand, February 14th falls on a Sunday, and on the other hand, the lockdown limits them.

Your bright spot: A new general decree on the shop closing law.

This allows them to sell flowers on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Of course only with the “Click & Collect” system.

The florists in the district have already prepared themselves.

General decree allows florists to sell flowers for four hours on Sunday, February 14th via “Click & Collect”

“I see it positively,” says Antje Walther, owner of “Unartig” in Bad Tölz.

The businesspeople at Amortplatz have a common Valentine's Day concept.

“We'll be raising pink balloons at the weekend,” announced Walther.

“It should be a sign of love and presence at this time.” She is also prepared for the flowers.

"With us, the big sellers are rather wild and young - pink roses, ranunculus, eucalyptus leaves and tulips."

Hope for many flowery love greetings

Christian Rieger, owner of Blumen Rieger in Benediktbeuern, is not in good spirits.

“We cannot present our bouquets in the shop as usual,” he says.

"Many need this inspiration." It makes him all the angrier that supermarkets can use this advantage.

"The height is that even a beverage store in Penzberg is already selling bouquets in the open store," he says annoyed.

Still, he is fighting and hoping for enough pre-orders.

“Some of our regular customers have already ordered by phone, so I'm happy.” The favorite is still the love classic: red roses.

Nevertheless, Rieger sees no chance of generating sales comparable to previous years.

Costing for flower orders is a risk

"Valentine's Day means more than usual this year," says Melanie Müller, owner of the Lenggries flower gallery.

"Since restaurant visits are not possible, you can give away joy and love in a corona-compliant way with flowers." However, there is still a risk: "We cannot rely on the experience gained over the past years as to how many spontaneous orders will come."

Jochen Weber, owner of Blumen Fritz in Bad Tölz, finds a calculation difficult.

“I have increased the order compared to other weeks.

But not as much as on Valentine's Day so far. "Lovers' Day 2021 is" a bit like a lucky bag ".

In addition, “on Valentine's Day, men usually shop at the last minute.

That makes it even more complicated, ”says Weber with a laugh.

Nevertheless, he approaches this day with motivation.

“We are now tying the bouquets every day from 5am.” Because not only red roses are in demand on February 14th.

“A lot of people wanted colorful bouquets,” noted the business owner.

New trend: women also buy bouquets for lovers' day

Stefanie Riesch with her Tölzer florist "Stil und Bloom" is also hoping for many customers who want to express their love for flowers.

Orders have been coming in since last week, by phone and online order form.

The collection takes place through a sales window.

A trend that caught the florist's eye is also reflected this year: “Most customers on Valentine's Day are already men, but there are more and more women who give flowers to a friend or their mother.” But spring bouquets are more likely than asked red roses.

Melanie Müller also has female customers on this day: “Every now and then women also buy a few roses for their men.” How many flowers will ultimately be given away on Valentine's Day is something that nobody can estimate this year.

“With all the optimism: the billing will not take place until Monday,” says Walther.
