Northern bypass: it continues

The government of Upper Bavaria is resuming the approval process for the northern bypass around Erding.

The government of Upper Bavaria is resuming the approval process for the northern bypass around Erding.

Erding - On behalf of the district, the Munich Roads Department has handed over the - changed - planning documents to the district government.

District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer told our newspaper.

As early as 2015, the district had applied for the planning approval procedure for the ten-kilometer bypass that bypasses the district town between Unterstrogn near Bockhorn and the eastern airport bypass near Reisen (Eitting).

The proceedings were put on hold in July 2019 due to an amendment (Tektur).

In the context of 1700 objections from 700 citizens and institutions, the government of Upper Bavaria considered it sensible and necessary to examine not only the South 2 route, but also two routes through the air base area, which will become free from the end of 2024.

This demand came mainly from the Bockhorn community.

The district as the responsible body for planning and the road construction authority as the executive body decided to take this step in order to be prepared against possible lawsuits against the approval (plan approval decision) and not to lose unnecessary time in the event of a process.

The result of the new test is now available: "The South 2 optional route is still favored, it has been confirmed to be the most suitable," said Bayerstorfer.

He had actually expected this result half a year ago, but said he could get over the delay.

"In this context, numerous objections were already taken into account." After several dialogue forums, the planning of the ED 99, the internal name for the new bypass, especially in the Langengeisling, Altham and Eichenkofen area, but also Bockhorn, had been adapted so that the Farmers get to their fields better and faster.

A new network of roads had become necessary because State Road 2082 in the direction of Berglern north of Langengeisling was to be cut.

Now the architecture is laid out again, the citizens can raise objections again.

Bayerstorfer is in good spirits.

“I hope that the planning approval decision will be issued this year,” says Bayerstorfer, but I know that this is an ambitious goal.

Initial plans for the northern bypass of the district town have existed for over 20 years and were initiated by former district administrator Xaver Bauer.

The district is only responsible for planning, but does not want to pay ED 99.

The Free State has promised the highest possible funding rate.

The city of Erding is planning its own connection to the ED 99 parallel to the Alte Römerstrasse.
