How will Israel's relations with the International Court of Justice in The Hague be constructed against the background of the selection of a new Attorney General?

Israel Today revealed that the election of Karim Khan will lead decision-makers in Jerusalem to re-examine the boycott of the law, but the Shurat HaDin organization believes that cooperation with the international institution should be stopped - and even banned by law.

The organization is convinced that the identity of the plaintiff does not change the very necessity of terminating contacts with the tribunal, of which Israel is also not a member.

Against this background, the law is proposed, which will in fact block the Hague from investigating Israeli territory or interrogating Israelis.

A similar law has been in place in the United States for many years. Kenya, too, whose leaders were required to be interrogated in The Hague, has taken a similar approach and managed to stop the court from intervening in its affairs.

The "Bill for the Protection of the Activities of the International Criminal Court in The Hague" includes a variety of components, including five years' imprisonment and financial sanctions for every civilian entity, such as associations, that will transfer information of any kind to the court, directly or indirectly;

Five years imprisonment for anyone who provides service to the court;

Prohibition of economic, direct or indirect contact with the tribunal, including the possibility that the tribunal will hire investigators on its behalf to operate in Israel;

A prohibition on all state authorities passing information in any way and of any kind to the tribunal or its representatives, directly or indirectly, unless the Minister of Justice has approved it;

Prohibition of extradition to the tribunal or to a third party of a person whom the tribunal wishes to detain or interrogate;

A prohibition on the representatives of the tribunal entering the territory of the State and carrying out any action in the territories of the State;

Definition of property that the court has in the country as an asset of a terrorist organization;

A government declaration with legal implications for foreign entities that assist the tribunal and operate within Israel;

As well as a state obligation to legally and economically protect every Israeli against whom proceedings have been opened in the court.

The "Law" states that the law has already been drafted and is ready to be submitted, immediately after the 24th Knesset begins to operate.

"The State of Israel should do today what the United States did 20 years ago as soon as the court was established in The Hague," Adv. Nitzana Darshan-Leitner, president of the organization and initiator of the bill, told Israel Today, "We waited with this bill for a long time. , But we see Israel's hanging rope in The Hague getting tighter.

"The State of Israel must do everything in its power to prevent the court from acting against Israelis. While the court takes an antisemitic stance against the State of Israel and IDF soldiers, we must enshrine in clear legislation that no Israeli body or authority will provide information to the court against Israelis.

Israel has an independent and robust law enforcement system, and if there is a suspicion of committing 'war crimes', the issue is being investigated in full severity. "
