The German health authorities recorded 24,300 new cases of coronavirus during the past 24 hours, which brings the total number of infections in the country to two million and 833173.
Data from the Robert Koch Institute for Infectious Diseases showed that the number of deaths in the country rose to 76,543, after 201 new cases were recorded.
Germany is racing against time in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus, while Germany's top public health official expects infections to climb to 100,000 a day, compared to 20,000 now.
And German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced earlier that she is not convinced that the measures taken in the country will break the third wave of Corona because precautionary measures are not being implemented in all states.
