"The entry of voters to the voting precincts is fluid and there has been no agglomeration of people," the agency said in a report prior to the closing of the polls.
Around 13.1 million of the 17.4 million inhabitants were summoned to elect the successor to President Lenín Moreno, whose four-year term will be completed on May 24.
Arauz, 36, and the dolphin of former president Rafael Correa (2007-2017), won the first round on February 7 with 32.72% of the vote compared to 19.74% for Lasso, a 65-year-old conservative.
But in recent weeks, Lasso rebounded in the polls and Arauz's advantage was slim, who was waiting for the results with his followers at the headquarters of the UNES alliance, the movement he leads.
