AT&T announced that it will spin off WarnerMedia and merge it with Discovery into a global, independent entertainment company.
The idea is to unite the two successful content brands, including their streaming services HBO Max and Discovery +, a transaction that will also include CNN.
The merger is subject to approval by US regulatory bodies, and is expected to become effective in mid-2022.
