The Centre for Health Protection announced that a new confirmed case was announced in Hong Kong today (24th). It was announced on Sunday (23rd) that a 46-year-old female domestic helper with the N501Y variant virus was initially diagnosed. It has officially become a confirmed case (No. 11834) .
Zhang Zhujun, director of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Centre for Health Protection, said that after she was admitted to the hospital, she collected samples again. The virus test was negative and there were antibodies in the body. The case will be studied again or listed as an imported case.
The foreign domestic helper takes care of the two children of the employer. They are studying in the kindergarten of Minsheng College and the elementary school of the talented Yang Yin Youdi College. The two schools have to be closed first, and classes will be resumed after the child's sample is negative. However, the children must continue to be isolated and quarantined.
In addition, the foreign domestic helper had recently visited the Central Waterfront Promenade and Global Plaza Mall to remit money. Visitors on the same day were required to undergo mandatory testing.

The 46-year-old Filipino maid (No. 11834) went to Pakistan with her former employer and her family on February 8 this year. She returned to Hong Kong from Pakistan on April 3 and was quarantined at the Ramada Seaview Hotel in Xiyingpan from April 3 to 23. During the isolation period, there were no other confirmed cases on the same floor.
After the quarantine was completed, she temporarily stayed at the former employer’s residence at No. 31 Dawangxia Village, Tsing Yi from April 24 to 29, and then moved to the prospective employer’s residence at Block 6, Victoria Harbour, Tai Kok Tsui. The employer has a family of four. And another domestic helper, who tested negative recently.
Admission to the hospital to collect samples still negative
Patient 11834's samples were negative on April 28 this year, that is, 26 days after arriving in Hong Kong. On May 7 due to compulsory testing by foreign domestic helpers, they were all negative. They were positive until May 22 at the Yau Ma Tei Testing Center.
She has the N501Y variant virus strain, but no E484K and L452R variant genes.
After she was admitted to the hospital on May 23, the sample collected was negative and the antibody was positive. After reviewing the data, she will examine whether the case is classified as an imported case.

Zhang Zhujun said that the patient was mainly responsible for sending the children from the employer to the bus stop on weekdays. The two children were studying in the kindergarten of Minsheng College and the elementary school of the talented Yang Yin Youdi College. Both schools will be closed for cleaning. Classes will be resumed, and the employer and the whole family still have to continue the quarantine.
Zhang Zhujun pointed out that the patient went to the Central Section of the Central and Western Waterfront Promenade on May 9th and 16th and rested with a few friends; on May 16th, he went to the Central Global Plaza shopping mall to remit money, and the visitors on the same day mentioned above were required to be tested compulsorily. .
Close contacts of the patient also include the intermediary of the employment company, friends gathering on the promenade, and the employer’s family, all of whom are subject to quarantine.
There are a total of 266 cases of N501Y variant virus and 100 cases of L452R variant virus in Hong Kong.
