Actually, we only summoned two groups: Axolotes Mexicanos (five musicians) and Cariño (three).

One of them, Juan, will also be the producer of Cariño's new album, the only group that one knows of that was born after a Tinder date: “It was spaced out in time.

We became friends because love did not arise, María passed from me ”, explains Paola, the trio's guitarist.

"I was in a difficult time," jokes the aforementioned.

“But we became friends and found that there were a lot of bands that we both liked.

A lot of Spanish pop: Melenas, Mujeres, La Casa Azul ... ”.

In that list they also include El Buen Hijo, Alicia's other group, the third member of Cariño, a band that became relatively popular as a result of the inclusion of one of their songs in

Paquita Salas

, the Los Javis series.

Let's go back to the beginning. Another Axolote, Lucas Vidaur, records on his own as Confeti de Odio, which released his first album,

, in 2020. A third member, Stephen Please, records solo under his own name and is part of another band, No Fucks. . The fourth, Mario, is behind the Daredevil Mario project. Only Olaya, the singer, does not participate in any side project.

Neither group sounds the same as the other. Each one has its own identity within that contemporary pop that on the one hand borders on the synths and bases of urban music and on the other with guitars and drums. How do you handle such a mess? "Well, bad," says Olaya, "until the pandemic came and the concerts were over. Because Carolina During had many tours ”. Would there be any reason for them to leave the other bands and focus on Axolotes Mexicanos? “Everyone has a price,” Juan replies, who in fact where he gets most of his income is from Carolina Durante. Maybe that's why Lucas adds: "It would have to be a lot of money." But although the least live from music, the majority combine it with other occupations. The return of the guitar pop groups is making news these days, in which

seemed to have banished them from the younger generations. Mexican axolotls deny it. When they formed in Asturias in 2013 they were minors. "The pop scene is full of young mazo groups doing cool things," says Olaya. To which Lucas adds: “When we started, in most of the groups we played with, the youngest were 30. Even before the trap there was nothing. There were these older people, the Izal and that kind of thing. There was like a hole. Now there are many 19 or 20 years old. There we are ”.

“There are so many new groups that we are already old. They say we are a benchmark, freak out, ”says Paola, from Cariño. Everything moves so fast that this trio who has made not having a battery (“we have saved a lot of money”, jokes Paola) one of their hallmarks, they are already semi-veteran. And that they have only been four years old and that between the formation of the group, in 2017, and the release of their first album,

, a few months passed. As said: today's groups live at full speed. "Two months, that's how long it took us to compose and record it," explains Alicia. Then three years in which they have only released single songs. “We are already with the second. In the new one there is again a lot of romanticism, we are corny ”, adds Paola.

"It bores me," Alicia explains.

“Yes, we are, but by chance.

We women make a lot of music, of many types of Cariño and it is already good to include ourselves in something like that ”, completes Paola.
