Russia announced the monitoring of the emergence of new local mutated strains of the Coronavirus, similar to the strain discovered in Britain and those discovered in South Africa, noting that it is still too early to talk about its impact on humans.
Sputnik quoted an epidemiologist, head of the scientific group for developing new epidemics diagnostics at the Research Center of the Russian Consumer Protection Authority, Kamel Hafizov, as saying today: “We recently saw several hundreds of cases of British strain diagnosis, whether in Russia in general or in Moscow, which is quite expected given that For its characteristics, there are also some local Russian strains of the virus that contain distinct genetic mutations similar to the variants in the British and South African strains, but it is too early to say that they have certain different effects on humans or give new names to these mutations until sufficient data is collected.
The total number of Coronavirus infections in Russia reached 5023168, of whom 119,600 died, while 4642090 people recovered.
