The first phase of the Tuen Ma Line was opened to traffic on February 14 last year. Earlier news indicated that the Tuen Ma Line could be fully opened at the end of next month at the earliest.
The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Chen Fan, announced today that the Tuen Ma Line will open to traffic on June 27, and the two new stations, Songhuangtai Station and To Kwawan Station, will also be opened on the same day.
According to the information, the commission agreement signed by the Hong Kong government and the MTR, the entire section of the Tunma line was originally scheduled to be opened to traffic in December 2018, and subsequent works were delayed due to the discovery of Song Dynasty monuments at the Songhuangtai station site, and the construction scandals at several stations.
If the Tuen Ma line is successfully opened to traffic at the end of next month, the related works will also be delayed for nearly two and a half years.
