Senate Republicans blocked a bill that sought to create an independent, bipartisan commission to investigate the Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill, which left five dead and about 140 police officers injured.
The proposal did not get enough votes this Friday, as at least 10 Republican senators were needed for the legislation to advance.
