Düsseldorf - The battery manufacturer Varta will supply the sports car manufacturer Porsche with high-performance batteries in the future.
A spokesman confirmed it on Monday evening.
The customer for the so-called V4Drive battery is the sports car manufacturer.
The Varta spokesman did not want to give details.
The Volkswagen subsidiary did not want to comment on the report when asked.
The "Handelsblatt" had previously reported.
Cooperation with several suppliers
According to "Handelsblatt", however, Porsche stated that, depending on the characteristics of different vehicle or development projects, it is entirely possible to work with two or more battery suppliers - depending on which partner has the best expertise for a particular project.
The company will announce with which partners which projects will be implemented in due course.
According to the manufacturer, the V4Drive from Varta is an ultra-high-performance lithium-ion round cell. It can be fully charged in just six minutes and should still be efficient even at extremely low temperatures. According to the report, the battery could be used in the Taycan model or the iconic 911 sports car.
