At the latest Schlehdorf municipal council meeting, the councils had the current plans for the construction of a grain factory with a whiskey distillery presented to them again in detail.

Despite the majority approval, skepticism remains.

Iffeldorfer Christian Heinrich has been working on his plans for a grain manufacture with a whiskey distillery in Schlehdorf for several years.

The building project called “Schlehwerk” has undergone numerous rescheduling during this time.

But it is not just the size of the project that has changed.

The attitude of some local councils also changed over time from benevolence to rejection.

Among other things, they criticize the planned catering area in relation to the production area as too large and fear that the "Schlehwerk" could endanger the existence of the village shop as well as the local gastronomy (we reported).

The fact that the “Schlehwerk” will attract additional day-trippers also annoys some local councils.

Confronted with fears of this kind, Heinrich and his architect Matthias Brosig were ready to compromise from the start when they presented their current plans at the municipal council meeting. As Heinrich said, among other things, he was prepared to completely forego selling food over the counter, because: “For us, that doesn't matter whether we're successful or not.” Of course, drinks would have to be in the planned brewery and distillery may be sold. Also so-called merchandising products. In addition, Heinrich was ready to limit the number of seats in the catering area - there should already be a meal here - to 90, and to stipulate that in a contract.

But some councils reacted skeptically to such verbal assurances. "The belief in the reliability of this promise is not one hundred percent", commented Werner Mest about the offered seat restrictions. And you can't control such promises anyway, said Erich Skrajewski. Heinrich emphasized that the "Schlehwerk" should primarily become a "production company".

The fear of some councilors that the connected catering trade could lead to disturbances for the works manager's apartment in the industrial park are therefore unfounded. “We are primarily a production company. We don't go into the evening. ”Evening tastings should only take place on weekends at the latest. A large event room on the upper floor of the new building also worries some local councils. Mayor Stefan Jocher also expressed concerns that the room could be converted into an additional catering area. Heinrich and Brosig tried to calm down on this point too. Among other things, they offered to contractually stipulate a specific use for the space. Violations could result in fines. In addition, the two men assuredthe large room is intended primarily for the internet dispatch of the “Schlehwerk” products.

Heinrich's plan to build a kind of chapel in the “Schlehwerk” also made the councilor suspicious. Heinrich justified this wish by saying that he was a devout Christian who wanted to withdraw regularly to pray. He assured that the room was "purely private" and should be used for "house masses" and as a meditation and prayer room. Public services should not take place. Religious groups should not gather here either.

With eight votes in favor and five against, the committee finally voted in favor of the current planning. The procedure for necessary changes to the development plan is to be continued - but only when the municipality has signed an urban development contract with Heinrich. This point was postponed again at the meeting. However, the councils made it clear which points the document should contain. These include, among other things, a limitation of the number of seats in restaurants to 90, a clear definition of what the event room may be used for - for example only for private celebrations. Or that no public religious events are allowed in the chapel.

According to Jocher, the development plan change could be through by the end of the year. Then Heinrich could submit concrete construction plans to the community. FRANZISKA SELIGER
