The People's Democratic Party in Lebanon strongly condemned the American and French attempts to interfere in Lebanese affairs.
In a statement today, the party considered that the call of the Defense Committee in the French Parliament to form an international working group under the pretext of intensifying humanitarian work in Lebanon and ensuring that the parliamentary and municipal elections are held on time constitutes another flagrant violation of Lebanese national sovereignty and diplomatic norms in an unprecedented manner.
The party indicated that this step "represents a prelude to a brazen US-French interference in Lebanon's internal affairs, especially after the announcement of a joint visit of the two countries' ambassadors in Beirut to Saudi Arabia to discuss the formation of the Lebanese government."
The party pointed out that "these measures represent an attempt to impose a foreign political, economic and military mandate on Lebanon that overthrows all the national achievements of the Lebanese people since independence and the termination of the French mandate, leading to the liberation of Lebanese lands from the Israeli occupation," calling on the Lebanese people and their living national forces to resist all forms of guardianship.
