Nine people, including children, were killed and several others injured as a result of being struck by lightning in the western Indian state of Rajasthan today.
The Xinhua news agency quoted local authorities as saying: The lightning strikes killed nine people in Kota, Jalwar and Dalpur districts of Rajasthan, including seven children, while several others were injured.
Lightning strikes during the annual monsoon from June to September are common in India.
More than 2,300 people were killed by lightning strikes in India in 2018, according to official statistics.
