A new era of energy generation has begun in Peißenberg: The local energy cooperative had invited around 100 guests to the inauguration of the “Sonnenwiese Dornbichl”.
The open-air photovoltaic system equipped with 6378 modules, so was the tenor, was a regional showcase project.

- The people in charge of the Peißenberger Energiegenossenschaft and the plant manufacturer "Vispiron EPC" were already a bit tense when they were preparing the inauguration ceremony. The photovoltaic system between the railway line and Dornbichlweg had already been put into operation two days earlier - in rainy weather. "There was a real downpour", reported Stefan Sendl, the chairman of the cooperative: "The solar radiation was minimal." But at the celebration the system should be really buzzing.
Chairman of the supervisory board, Alexander Rossner, who moderated the inauguration ceremony, jokingly said that they had already considered “simulating the sound of the inverters at the official ceremony”. But the guests finally got to hear the "real hum". In addition to district administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß (CSU), state parliament member Andreas Krahl (Greens), cooperative members, councilors and residents, Rossner was also able to welcome "the dear sun" - in all its glory. In any case, the weather for the PV system was perfect under the white and blue sky.
While the inverters were busy humming to themselves (Rossner: “This is how money is printed!”), The keynote speakers praised the sun meadow as a “regional showcase project”.
Mayor Frank Zellner (CSU) spoke of a "contribution to the energy transition and climate protection".
After Peißenberg's history was linked to the fossil fuel "coal", the chapter on energy generation would now be continued - albeit in a regenerative form.
Jochner-Weiß stated that when it comes to the “energy turnaround”, you shouldn't point your finger at others, you have to do something yourself.
Photovoltaics are "of the utmost importance" because they are "the easiest to implement".
Jochner-Weiß feels the cooperative idea is “the coolest” in connection with the energy transition, because it would bring people together for a joint investment.
With “great joy”, but also with a “little sadness”, Andreas Krahl inspected the sun meadow.
Big politics or the state should not burden the citizens with everything when building renewable energies.
"This is a pity.
A different policy is needed. ”The state should not limit itself to simplifying the planning criteria for citizens' projects.
Instead, he must take on a pioneering role himself.
"But there is no PV system on the roof of the Bavarian state parliament, for example," criticized Krahl.
The sun meadow was ultimately the product of a broad-based cooperation between landowners, residents, local politics, the municipal building authority and, last but not least, the Sparkasse Oberland as lender.
"Project ideas only come about when the right people come together," emphasized Stefan Sendl.
The cooperative also demonstrated a good hand with the “Vispiron” company.
The plant construction went smoothly.
Managing director Florian Schönberger described the energy transition as an "economic motor", although there would definitely be a new distribution of roles: "Citizens are no longer just consumers, they are now also producers."
The Vispiron team will soon be installing a grid-connected PV storage system on Dornbichlweg: "That will then be the next phase of the energy transition," says Schönberger.
