This Thursday, the Government of President Joe Biden announced the imposition of new sanctions against Álvaro López Miera, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba and the brigade of the Ministry of the Interior known as the Black Berets. According to a statement from the US Treasury Department, those sanctioned were selected "in connection with the repression of the peaceful pro-democracy protests in Cuba that began on July 11."
