From parsonage to “parsonage plus” to “project of the century”: If you go by the advance praise, something groundbreaking is developing in the center of the village of Massenhausen.

- In Massenhausen, the church and parish are making common cause, want to create a new center of the village by adding an extension to the existing parish hall, want to combine pastoral and political use under one roof.
At an information event organized by the CSU councilors Frank Langwieser and Silke Rößler, local spokesman Otto Radlmeier presented the current state of affairs. Almost 50 interested people had come.

"Win-win situation" for church and society
In 2015 there were first considerations to tackle the parish home in Massenhausen. As early as 2016, the local associations expressed their interest and their participation, the project had become the "Pfarrheim plus". “A pilot and future project,” says Radlmeier. That makes sense because the lively club life in Massenhausen no longer has a meeting place, and because the church members run away. A common house is therefore a "win-win situation" for church and society.
After initial preliminary planning, which includes an extension to the existing parish hall, the citizens contributed over 100 ideas to an open workshop.
The church use was set at 55 percent, which led to the Archbishop's Ordinariate taking over the property development, explained the local spokesman.
We are currently in coordination discussions with the municipality, associations and the citizens, and are in the process of securing funding by acquiring grants.
The ordinariate helps, which Radlmeier explicitly emphasized.

According to current plans, the modernization and energetic renovation of the parish hall is planned, the entire complex will have, in addition to various smaller rooms and rooms for the administration of the parish association and the apartment for the pastor, above all a multifunctional hall, which can be used as a shooting range as well as through clever planning Assembly room with a size of 200 square meters can be used. Now it is of course important to bring all users and all uses under one roof, which is not easy, but must succeed, as Radlmeier emphasized. The planning is becoming a “project of the century” because the new “Pfarrheim plus” should also be accompanied by traffic calming in this area in order to make the square a real village center again.In addition, a football and multi-purpose area is planned in the parish garden. Radlmeier said that he could see a "spirit of optimism" in the village, which was essential. After all, this is about “actively shaping the future”. He didn't want to say anything about the costs yet, it was too early for that.
MdB Irlstorfer wants to help with the acquisition of grants
After meeting on site and then in the fire station, Irlstorfer expressed his respect for the project and the initiators.
“I don't know of any such project,” he said, and praised the church because it is so committed and involved in this “far-sighted planning”.
This "multigenerational project" is also so important because many people noticed during the corona pandemic how important a functioning infrastructure on site and "at home" is.
Irlstorfer offered his help with the acquisition of grants.
