The study of a 17,000-year-old mammoth tusk - published this Thursday in the scientific journal Science - revealed that these animals covered great distances during their lives, traveling the equivalent of almost twice the circumference of the Earth.

In the investigation, the scientists divided a 2-meter tusk lengthwise and extracted 400,000 microscopic samples from it, confirming that the analyzed mammoth visited many parts of Alaska throughout its life.
