The Lebanese Red Cross announced this morning (Sunday) that at least 20 people were killed in a fuel tank explosion in the northern province of Akar.

He added that at least seven people were injured and evacuated to hospitals.

Lebanon is currently experiencing a severe shortage of fuel, and in the past week there have been several cases of tank hijackings.

Former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri said that "the bombing in Akar is no different from the bombing in a port in Beirut," and called on those responsible - including President Michel Aoun - to resign.
