Less than a week ago, we never imagined the Taliban seizing Kabul before the end of the month.

Yesterday, on this Sunday of the Assumption, the armed Islamist group entered the capital, took over the presidential palace, taking de facto control of the country.

The president fled, the Kabulians who could too, the embassies were emptied.

Now the country is holding its breath, the inhabitants are holed up in their homes, preparing as best they can for the return of the terrible Taliban law that twenty years of foreign presence had managed to keep at bay.
