The Ma'asiyahu Prison Release Committee decided today (Tuesday), by a majority opinion, to release Rabbi Ezra Sheinberg early release.
At the request of the ombudsman's representative, the execution of the decision was delayed for seven days.
"The decision of the Liberation Committee to shorten Ezra Sheinberg's sentence is shameful and constitutes a knife stab in the back of the victims," Smutrich responded. That Sheinberg did not take responsibility for his actions.
The punishment was too light in the first place and the early release is adding sin to crime.

In February 2018, the Nazareth District Court sentenced Rabbi Ezra Sheinberg, who was the head of the Orot Hari yeshiva in Safed, to seven and a half years in prison for sexual offenses committed by eight women in his community while cheating them.
Rabbi Sheinberg was convicted in July 2017 after admitting in the amended indictment filed against him by the Northern District Attorney’s Office as part of a plea deal reached at the end of a criminal mediation procedure imposed on the parties.
The first indictment was filed two years earlier, in which Rabbi Sheinberg was charged with 13 sexual offenses he committed on women.
He was convicted in a plea bargain of sexually assaulting eight women after the rape offenses were dropped from the indictment Scheinberg appealed to the Supreme Court on the severity of the sentence, and his appeal was denied.
