At the age of 25, Shahar Rup, Danny's son, finally made the decision to pursue a musical career.
After playing football until the age of 18, then being a forecaster in the military, like Dad, Rup Jr. releases his first single, "Last Song," which he wrote and composed and produced by the duo Amir and Ben.
"All my life the music was with me, me and the guitar, it was just between myself, I did not have the courage to open my mouth in front of anyone," says Shahar. "I used to play in ceremonies, but mostly I was a footballer, I played for Maccabi Herzliya, Maccabi Petah Tikva and Ramat Hasharon. Shahar says that during a trip to the Far East he recorded several songs in Cambodia.
"And suddenly I heard myself on speakers in Thailand, in Vietnam, places where the song rolled. After nine months in the East I came back and it took me a while to figure out what my musical direction was, I worked with all kinds of producers, I felt lost. Then came the corona, I had time to write. "To Amir and Ben, and to my joy, they really liked my songs and we work together. In the end, I hope to reach the album."
And what about the field of forecasting? Still, you followed the father in the army.
"At first I was not enthusiastic about the role, but today I think it's one of the most underrated roles in the military. It's a very significant role. When I was a kid it was more personal for me to be Danny Roop's son. I did not always feel good when I was asked questions about the weather. "Inside and smiling. Being 'the son of' made me work harder and fortified me, because I want to show that my music is good in itself."
Is there a chance for a family collaboration with your actress sister?
"May graduated from Yoram Levinstein's studio. To this day she has performed in small roles in the theater, but I would totally put the chips on her. She is a talented, amazing and beautiful actress. She is writing a play, and I have a small dream in my heart to write music for it one day. "But before she has a play and mine has a career in music."
