Pen Farthing and his organization Nowzad Dogs have spent almost the last 15 years rescuing stray dogs.
But with the return of the Taliban to power, they are now looking for a place for the roughly 200 animals in their care.
Farthing says he will not leave Afghanistan until his team and the animals he helps are safe and he plans to charter a cargo plane and partner with another animal protection group to take care of them.
On its donations page, it seeks to raise the $ 200,000 needed to cover costs.
