Damascus-SANA
In the spirit of authentic tarab and beautiful words, the artist, Faten Sidawi, revived a musical evening at the Azem Palace Theater in Damascus, in which she sang for the planet of the East, Umm Kulthum.
In front of a large number of attendees who enjoyed beautiful songs of tarab, Al-Sedawi sang with the orchestra led by Maestro Mohamed Zaghloul a number of songs with a deep oriental tone.
Artist Louay Barakat, husband of the artist, Faten Sidawi, told SANA: “This concert is a restoration of the beautiful time and serves as a message that responds to the descending song, to confirm that we have cadres and energies that we must invest to restore and revive heritage,” stressing the need to encourage all attempts to sing heritage “in a different and new way.”
The artist, Faten Sidawy, explained that she grew up on songs of rapture and fell in love and found her voice in Umm Kulthum since her beginning in the Zenobia band, indicating that she chose songs that were not very popular to present during the concert.
On the reason for her absence for a while, she indicated that her travels, her husband, and her participation in several Arab festivals made her stay away from the local scene, noting that she faced difficulties every time she tried to present her songs due to the circumstances of the war on Syria.
