Beirut-Sana
Lebanese protesters surrounded the headquarters of the Association of Lebanese Banks and the Bank of Beirut today, in refusal to seize depositors' money by banks and in protest against the living and economic conditions in the country.
The Lebanese National News Agency stated that the protesters tried to storm the building by smashing the iron gate, which led to confrontations with the Lebanese army members present at the scene.
The agency added that the protesters pelted the building with paint and rotten eggs after attempting to storm it, while the fortifications and security forces were trying to prevent them from doing so, noting that they had cut off the international maritime highway Al-Abdah-Al-Abouda in Akkar, north Lebanon.
Since October 17, 2019, many Lebanese regions have witnessed demonstrations and sit-ins protesting the deteriorating living and economic conditions, calling for combating corruption in the country.
