Until a hurricane like Ida finally passes, it's hard to know what kind of damage has occurred.

Only several days after the storm makes landfall, images like the ones below can emerge, clearly showing the destruction left by the cyclone.

Prior to Ida's arrival, the New Orleans National Weather Service had said that "this cyclone is expected to bring DEVASTATING impacts to parts of southeastern Louisiana."

A satellite belonging to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and NASA also captured the extent of power outages in eastern Louisiana after Hurricane Ida.

The images are from this Tuesday morning, compared to those taken on August 9.
