Today, 21 people suffered from allergic reactions, vomiting and diarrhea in some of them, as a result of eating balmida fish and sparrow fish.
The Lattakia Health Directorate stated in a statement on its official page, quoting Dr. Louay Saeed, the poisoning official in the Lattakia Health Directorate, as saying that from this afternoon until nine o'clock in the evening, the Martyr Hamza Nofal National Hospital visited 21 cases with the aforementioned symptoms as a result of eating plasmid fish mainly and some cases due to fish. Al-Asaifri, when the patients were asked about its source, it was found that they had purchased it from different places, most of them are street vendors.
Dr. Saeed indicated that all patients were provided with the necessary treatment and most of them were discharged without any serious cases being registered.
He pointed out that buying fish from street vendors and not meeting the conditions of preservation in addition to the hot weather are all reasons that lead to an increase in the possibility of allergic reactions after eating it, especially plasmids, and it can also cause symptoms of food intolerance “gastroenteritis”, so it is preferable to eat it immediately after fishing.
