Anvisa and the entrance to the playing field
At 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, the match between Argentina and Brazil began in Sao Paulo, which was part of the World Cup qualifiers of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol).
After the first five minutes of the game, health authorities entered the field of play and prevented the continuity of the game.
The health authorities entered the field after the Brazilian Agency for Health Regulation (Anvisa) requested the support of the country's Federal Police to prevent four Argentine players from participating in the match.
Anvisa claimed that these four players made false statements upon arrival in Brazil, omitting that they had been in the United Kingdom in the last 14 days.
According to the Brazilian regulations against covid-19, any passenger who has visited the United Kingdom 14 days before arrival cannot enter the country.
The Argentine players involved are the following: Emiliano Martínez, Emiliano Buendía, Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero.

"Anvisa considers that it is a situation of serious health risk, so it advises the local authorities to determine the immediate quarantine of the players, who are prohibited from participating in any activity and must be prevented from remaining in Brazilian territory "said the agency.
Conmebol and FIFA confirm suspension of the match
Several minutes after what happened on the field, Conmebol confirmed that the match was suspended by the referee's decision.
"The referee and the match commissioner will submit a report to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, which will determine the steps to follow. These procedures strictly adhere to current regulations," added Conmebol.
Later, FIFA also confirmed the suspension of the match, noting that more details would be released later.
AFA and CBF positions
On the same Sunday, the president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), Claudio Tapia, issued a statement in which he affirmed that there was no lie.
"Four people entered to interrupt the match to make a notification and Conmebol asked the players to go to the locker room. You cannot talk about any lie here because there is health legislation under which all South American tournaments are played. The health authorities each country approved a protocol that we have been complying to the maximum, "said the AFA.
For his part, the coach of the Argentine team, Lionel Scaloni, said that he was not looking for any culprit and that, if something had happened or not, it was not the time to carry out the intervention that occurred.
