A hiker had a fatal fall on Sunday in the early afternoon above Lake Portillon (Haute-Garonne) in the Pyrenees, according to the PGHM of Bagnères-de-Luchon.
The victim
"unscrewed about 300 meters,"
said the gendarmerie platoon of Haute-Montagne.
According to the gendarmes, it is a man between
"30 and 40 years"
who was not yet identified Sunday evening.
The hiker who was
"properly equipped for the season"
might have taken the wrong route, they added.
The rescuers of Bagnère-de-Luchon, assisted by their colleagues from the PGHM of Pierrefitte Nestalas (Haute-Pyrénées) had to call on a helicopter from the air detachment of Tarbes to go and search for the body of the hiker.
