Munich - It is a major concern of all vaccinated people: Can I still infect others?

Can the coronavirus harm my loved ones despite my protection?

According to a new study, this is unlikely - especially when compared to unvaccinated people.

The Scottish health authority "Public Health Scotland" came to results in a large-scale study that should leave all vaccinated breathless: Per 100 people per year, the vaccinated test group infected only 2.98 people in their household.

For comparison: for those who have not been vaccinated, this number is 9.4.

The researchers examined data from 144,525 nurses and doctors and checked how many people were infected before and after the vaccination within the households of the test subjects.

If you count all roommates, 194,362 people were examined.

Those with just one vaccination also transmitted corona less frequently

The clear conclusion: Those who are vaccinated are much less likely to infect others with Corona.

Most (78.4 percent) of those vaccinated had been given the spades with Biontech or Astrazeneca.

Even those who had just had one vaccination did better than the unprotected: They infected only 5.93 roommates per year and 100 people.

The researchers write in the

New England Journal of Medicine

: "Not all cases of Covid-19 in household members were transmitted through the medical staff, so the effect of the vaccination could be even greater."

A higher percentage of severe corona courses than previously assumed is due to autoantibodies.

That is the result of a study.
