Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed the British Labor Party's vote to condemn the apartheid policy of the Israeli occupation and its brutal practices against the Palestinians and to demand the imposition of sanctions on the occupying entity and the realization of the rights of the Palestinian people.

According to Wafa Agency, Abbas considered the decision and its imposition of sanctions on the occupation authorities and the call to end the occupation of Palestinian lands in the West Bank and the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip as a strong message that the world is moving to adopt steps to besiege, isolate and punish this occupation, stressing that the occupation, no matter how long it takes, will come to an end.

In turn, the Palestinian Fatah movement called on the British government to respond to the decision of the members of the annual general conference of the British Labor Party to use sanctions against the occupation entity and to immediately recognize the State of Palestine, noting the party’s call to set strict standards against commercial activities with “Israel” and to implement the embargo on the sale of British arms to it, which It is used to violate human rights in occupied Palestine.

In a statement today, the movement’s spokesman in Europe, Jamal Nazzal, called on the friendly parties in Europe to adopt similar steps and put them into practice in a way that gives the Palestinian people hope for the justice of international stances towards international legitimacy and international law and puts an end to the attempts of the occupation authorities to evade them, stressing that the parties that are slack in condemning the crimes Occupation does not serve the universal dimension of human rights, nor does it establish the status of international law and the principle of equality between peoples. Rather, it serves the forces of extremism.

The Commissioner-General of International Relations, member of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement, Rawhi Fattouh, considered the decision as the beginning of correcting Britain’s historical mistake towards the Palestinian people and calling things by their proper names by describing “Israel” as a colonial entity and apartheid, and supporting the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to resist colonialism and occupation.

Fattouh stressed the need to translate these decisions into actions on the ground as soon as possible to recover the Palestinian right and call on European parties to follow the example of the Labor Party and apply international law.

The British Independent newspaper reported that members of the British Labor Party voted with an “absolute majority” during the party’s annual conference held in Brighton on a proposal to stop the establishment of settlements, cancel any annexation plans and end the occupation of Palestinian lands, impose sanctions on “Israel” and pressure it to remove the apartheid wall that it built in the West Bank.
