Planegg - building yard and elementary school Martinsried: This is where photovoltaic systems can be implemented most quickly.

This was the conclusion reached by the Würmtal regional plant.

Entrusted with the communal energy management, it presented the results of an investigation of the communal properties to the Planegger environmental committee on Monday.

In the local elections in the spring of last year, not only 13 new members moved into the local council. A large number of motions from the various parliamentary groups in the following months also showed that environmental and climate protection have become more important. The Greens, for example, called last summer with their "PV offensive", "the community should determine the availability and suitability of roof areas for photovoltaics on public properties and aim to use them for participation models or for their own needs".

"Planegg is not a small community if you look at the energy data," said Nico Schartner from the regional plant in the environmental committee. The gas and heat requirement of all 18 municipal properties is 5 million kilowatt hours (kWh) annually, the electricity requirement is 2 million, which together amounts to 750,000 euros. The Feodor-Lynen-Gymnasium has the largest energy requirement with 32 percent.

The regional plant took a closer look at a dozen buildings together with the municipal administration. Pasinger Strasse 22, which is home to the municipal archive, is not a location for a photovoltaic system because the roof is unsuitable. The same applies to the funeral hall at the cemetery. The roof statics would first have to be checked for both fire department equipment houses in Planegg and Martinsried. And at the recycling center, which is already equipped with a photovoltaic system that feeds the electricity fully into the grid, structural measures are pending in the medium term, as is the Waaghäusl youth club.

The best suited, so the conclusion of the regional plant, are the building yard, Im Grund 24, especially its new warehouses, and the elementary school Martinsried. The school needs 80,000 kWh of electricity annually. According to Schartner, three 24 kW systems can cover 40 to 50 percent of the electricity demand on site. A 30 kW photovoltaic system is possible at the building yard, which can cover a quarter of the electricity requirement of 20,000 to 25,000 kilowatt hours per year.

The type of implementation is open.

The Würmtal regional plant, in which the municipality has a 30 percent stake, offers to finance, install and operate the photovoltaic systems in order to supply the municipality with electricity five percent cheaper than the current electricity supply.

That would bring Planegg in the energy costs for the building yard 500 euros and at the elementary school 1000 euros in annual savings.

And the knowledge that we have made renewable energies possible.
