The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria Geir Pedersen announced today that a new round of meetings of the committee to discuss the constitution will be held on the 18th of next month in Geneva.
Pedersen said during today's UN Security Council session: "The small group of the committee to discuss the constitution will meet in Geneva on October 18, and invitations to attend the sixth round of the committee's meetings have been sent.
Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Bassam Sabbagh, reiterated during the session Syria's rejection of any external interference in the work of the committee for discussing the constitution or trying to impose artificial timetables and preconceived conclusions for its work. The constitution and everything related to it is a matter decided by the Syrians.
