Maximilian Fuhrmann, 36, is reluctant to sit on his own treatment chair.
"When I'm a patient with my father, I'm not the bravest either," he says.
Fuhrmann took over the dental practice in Achern from his father five years ago.
He now only practices when his son Maximilian has a toothache - which happens every now and then, despite all the precaution with dental floss and interdental brushes.
Even as a child, Fuhrmann always had to brush your teeth nicely.
Because he comes from a family of dentists.
His grandfather, his father and two aunts work in the profession.
“It was always about teeth, somehow,” he says.

Maximilian Fuhrmann himself, however, initially failed because of the numerus clausus for studying dentistry. To bridge the waiting time, he began training as a dental technician. When he was finally able to get a place at university after a few months in the replacement process, he said he was very happy. And not only because it paved the way to his dream job, but also because he escaped an exam at the vocational school where he should have put on dentures - and for which he had great respect.
The practical exams among students are also particularly tricky when studying dentistry.
The failure rates are high - in some laboratories weep every day during practical training, report prospective dentists.
Fuhrmann does not remember the time quite as dramatically, but he too speaks of "agonizing hours".
"The university was a great training," he says, "but I was also happy when my studies were over."
Before starting his father's practice, he first wanted to gain professional experience.
But that was not that easy, reports Fuhrmann: He received many rejections on his speculative applications as an assistant dentist.
In the podcast, Maximilian Fuhrmann talks about the beautiful and the less beautiful sides of his job.
He reveals what you should know before studying - and what the secret of white teeth is.
