Israeli swimmer Yaakov Tomarkin continued his good season opener tonight (Thursday), winning two medals on the first day of the World Cup in Budapest.
The 29-year-old Olympic finalist opened with a bronze medal in the 200-meter backstroke, in a time of 1: 53.50, and continued with a silver medal in the 100-individual medley, with 52.98 seconds.
Tomarkin, the only swimmer to represent Israel in Budapest, has now raised his tally in the 2021 World Cup round to six, after winning two silver and two bronze medals last week in Berlin.
The competition, which was attended by some of the best swimmers in the world, including champions and Olympic champions, will also continue on Friday and Saturday and is the second of four competitions in the prestigious round.
