These days, M., an Arab-Christian from a settlement in the north, is struggling to take an IDF officers' course. Due to being a member of minorities, the IDF did not intend to recruit M. in the first place, and he applied to volunteer for the army.

In the regular service, he made his way to a professional position, and later also to a command position in a combat unit in an operational sector.
When he finished his service, M. was told that he would not perform reserve service because he was an Arab, but M. continued to insist and eventually began serving in the reserve.
While in his regular service, he worked to make his dream come true: to be an IDF officer. Unfortunately, his request was repeatedly denied - and he was given a different reason each time. He recently applied to the Chief of Staff's office, detailing how big his dream was.
M. emphasized in his letter that it was precisely the events of the disturbances in the cities involved that strengthened his will, and that he believed that he would serve as an example to others.
He even noted that he hopes to lead a perceptual change in the society from which he comes.
