On Sunday, after 24 years in office, he was officially honored with the largest award of a municipality at the church fair in front of hundreds of visitors.

“There are speeches that you have to give and some you want to give. I want to keep this one, ”said Mayor Anita Wölfle. She attested to her predecessor that “you left me a well-tended field and huge footsteps”. It would go beyond the scope to enumerate the goals achieved by the former town hall chief. Wölfle said that Mair's knowledge was lacking in the local council and congratulated the former mayor on having always remained true to himself. In his four terms in office he made the church what it is today.
Sebastian Mair stated with his well-known mischievous grin, "that normally one is only praised when one has died".
He then shared the honor and the words of praise with his councilors, "because the things that have been achieved are not only my merit, but that of the council".
He proudly looked back on 30 years as part of the municipal council and 24 of them as mayor: “Those were many wonderful hours and you quickly forget the negative things.
I particularly enjoyed going to school and kindergarten. "
Educational landscape built
Anita Wölfle attested her predecessor to great achievements, particularly in setting up the local educational landscape. As examples, she cited the school expansion, the expansion of the kindergarten and the implementation of facilities such as crèche or lunchtime care. A forest kindergarten also enriches today's offer for families from the municipality. Last but not least, the mayor has always supported the associations in the municipality and the fire brigades.
As a result of the mayor's thanks, the associations from the community joined in with a gift.
Anita Wölfle presented the Mair couple with a voucher for a wellness holiday that the young retiree had earned.
Sebastian Mair then spends his recovery days with his wife Elisabeth, whom he thanked in particular on his special day.
She has always supported him in the 24 years and has given him support.
Big celebration in the Stockschützenhalle
The congregation had to wait a long time for the handover of the certificate, but on Sunday they finally had the day that did justice to the occasion.
When the sun was shining, you could march through the town with a brass band and then celebrate the parish festival with hundreds of guests in the Stockschützenhalle.
Needless to say, the former mayor was also heavily involved in the construction of the event location in the multifunctional hall, which is important for Wolfersdorf.
