The book industry in Syria achieved a remarkable presence in terms of quantity and quality at the International Book Fair, which concluded today in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

Most of the Syrian publishing houses attended the exhibition, along with a thousand houses from 30 countries, after a long absence, through private and joint pavilions, where visitors flocked to them, reflecting their aspiration to read the Syrian book, which was absent from this exhibition for years.

In a statement to SANA, the head of the Publishers Association, Haitham Al-Hafiz, said: “Our participation in the book fair in Riyadh, which came after 10 years of absence, after the invitation from the fair’s management, was highly appreciated by all Arab institutions and publishing houses. media and highlighting the Syrian writers and Arab books.

Al-Hafiz indicated that he held talks with the heads of the Federation of Arab Publishers and International Publishers to agree to fully advance the Arab book industry, noting that the coming period will witness a broader Syrian participation in Arab and foreign book fairs, especially that the challenges of the Corona epidemic have been overcome.

The Syrian participation in the exhibition, according to Al-Hafiz, was represented by thousands of titles from a large number of publishing houses without reservations on specific topics or titles, in order to stimulate Syrian culture and encourage its writers.
