The United States Prosecutor's Office asked to dismiss 7 of the 8 charges related to money laundering that are imputed to the Colombian-Venezuelan businessman Alex Saab, due to the extradition agreement with Cape Verde that does not allow the sentence in the United States to exceed the maximum penalty of the African country.
Meanwhile, Saab's second hearing, which was scheduled for Monday, was postponed for two more weeks.
Previously, Henry Bell, a Saab attorney, told CNN on Thursday that his client will plead not guilty.
