The community of Röhrmoos is paying a little for the outdoor facilities on Rathausplatz: The design devours a total of 650,000 euros, of which nine fountains alone cost 270,000 euros.

Röhrmoos

- Economical management has always been popular with the Röhrmoos municipal council, but when it comes to the new design of the town hall square, the focus is less on money.

This became apparent when it came to the planned water features in the eastern area of the town hall, which devour 270,000 euros.

Landscape architect Frank Karrer from the Topgrün planning office presented the municipal council with the concept for the public space in the “Röhrmoos - Am Bücherlweiher” development plan area and made no secret of the fact that the planned space east of the town hall will cost a total of around 650,000 euros. "The design of the outdoor facilities of the town hall square is intended to connect the existing open spaces of the existing building with the extension to form a coherent and inviting unit and contribute to a modern and contemporary design of the town center," emphasized Mayor Dieter Kugler (CSU), before the architect commented on the details took.

The existing stairs and systems remain. The floor covering in front of the library will be dismantled and replaced with new, uniform concrete / granite paving, which will also be used in the extension area. The choice of materials and the generously planned grandstand are intended to create a cohesive appearance. The new outdoor area is to be made accessible by two stairs from the library, which are located in the grandstand and after the stairs on the south side of the town hall. Following the stairs on the south side, a path will be created that runs directly between the planned parking lot of the supermarket to be built and the library.

The "fillet" of the outdoor area should be the upper and barrier-free area of the outdoor area, because this area should invite young and old to relax and play with its elements of water, light and green. “The generously dimensioned outdoor area allows the newly designed area to be used for various events. A hedge to the town hall creates an ideal retreat and significantly improves the quality of stay, ”enthused the mayor. Individually placed and space-defining elements in the form of illuminated hedges and seating blocks are intended to loosen up the overall appearance of the area and separate the area of the playable water systems from the accompanying paths.

A workshop with garbage house and garage / carport is planned for the caretaker in the northern area. "In order to avoid unwanted traffic on the square, flexible, possibly lowerable bollards are installed next to the caretaker's garage / carport, which also increase the safety of the visitors," emphasized the community chief.

"The place looks very inviting," said SPD councilor Sabine Decker, who is the disability officer in the community, and so naturally attaches great importance to the fact that disabled people and wheelchair users can also use the outdoor area. Free electoral council Stefan Müller asked the planner to ensure that the intended wooden benches are equipped with backrests. Müller also missed shrub beds in the planning, which, according to Karrer, is still feasible. Vice-Mayor Arthur Stein (Greens) misses a central area. However, the planner explained that, in the interests of the children, they had said goodbye to a central area. He considers a dual function here to be a more sensible solution. The lack of color criticized by stone can be remedied, "because natural stone also has a certain color in it".

Free voter councilor Stefan Lorenz asked the planner to what extent it could be slimmed down in view of the high costs of the water features. “Water technology is expensive. Because of stricter rules in the hygiene area, these costs have risen again, ”said Karrer. One could save 70,000 euros if instead of the nine planned fountains only seven fountains were created, which would, however, affect the character of the square. Christian Blank (Free Voters) knocked on an accessible chess field, which Mayor Kugler does not consider necessary because there is one on the other side of the street. "The concept leaves many options open," said CSU parliamentary group spokesman Stephan Hueber, and the mayor also said that one should not commit too much to the details yet.

The costs did not leave Schorsch Niederschweiberer (Free Voters) in peace either.

As far as the maintenance of the planned water features is concerned, the municipality must reckon with annual costs of around 10,000 euros.

However, the planner was not advised to change the planning for cost reasons.
