Since its previous record twenty-one years ago, the CAC 40 has completely changed its face.
Nothing could be more normal: an index changes with the successes, failures, mergers and acquisitions of companies.
In 2000, France Telecom was the first capitalization of the flagship index of the Paris Stock Exchange, at 245 billion euros, an astronomical amount for the time.
With the bursting of the bubble of TMT (technologies-media-telecoms), an acronym which moreover disappeared, the title knew a descent into hell.
The company, which has become Orange, now has ten times less capital and is relegated to 27th place in the CAC 40, between Legrand and Société Générale.
