Hunters were stuck for more than a week on an island surrounded by coffee during the night • Military helicopters began planning rescue in stormy weather, but eventually U.S. Coast Guard personnel managed to take advantage of a time window and rescue the frozen people

A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter rescued seven hunters stranded on Umank Island last weekend after being stranded on the island for more than a week, reporting that their drug and food stockpile is dwindling and they are suffering from a severe cold.

A few days ago, hunters were in a cabin in a fishing camp, for example, tonight, and when they woke up, they found that ice had covered the river.

The problem was that the ice was too thin to drive vehicles suitable for driving in the snow, and too thick to run a boat.

The place has no land route.

Four of the hunters, volunteers from the local search and rescue team, contacted security forces and indicated where they were.

But the weather did not allow the rescues and they were stuck for long days in the hut, with their food and medicine supplies dwindling.

In order to allow them to cope with the cold, a shipment of food was dropped on them about a week ago.

Authorities tried to use a civilian helicopter to pick up the hunters, but weather conditions did not allow it.

"I'm worried about the time it takes to rescue the hunters," said Paul Pensboy, head of the search and rescue team.

"This is not acceptable," he added.

Due to the long time and tangible danger to the lives of the stranded hunters, U.S. Army helicopters were asked to rescue them from the scene.
