The president of the bishops of France had then exchanged his posture of prelate for that of a simple penitent whose sincerity was glaring, just like his will to move forward to clear this hideous face of the Church.

Forgive us for taking your mercy for tolerance of evil,
” he implored.
Terrible summary of the dark years when the bishoprics evacuated, not the victims to protect them, but the aggressors, the serial rapists, in other dioceses or religious houses to protect them.
And thus “to
hush up the scandal
” in order to “
preserve the good image of the Church
”.
