France today called for a quick solution to its dispute with the United Kingdom over fishing licenses.
"France remains open to dialogue, but a quick solution must be found for our fishermen, in implementation of our agreements," French Secretary of State for European Affairs Clement Bonn told AFP on Twitter after meeting his British counterpart in charge of Brexit, David Frost.
"We have not yet come to a solution," Boone stressed during a government questioning session in the National Assembly, stressing, "We will continue this discussion in the coming days with little hope and we will support the fishermen anyway even if it means taking action if necessary," in an implicit reference to threats Paris recently brandished it, such as preventing British fishing boats from unloading their cargo in French ports or strengthening customs controls on all trucks arriving in France.
French President Emmanuel Macron had threatened the United Kingdom with retaliatory measures starting from the first of this month if it did not change its position on the fishing file.
