New York, SANA- The United Nations General Assembly today again adopted a resolution confirming that all measures taken

New York-Sana

Today, the United Nations General Assembly once again adopted a resolution confirming that all measures taken or to be taken by the Israeli occupation entity with the aim of changing the character and legal status of the Syrian Golan are null and void and constitute a flagrant violation of international law.

149 countries voted in favor of the resolution entitled "The Occupied Syrian Golan" against the occupation entity and the United States, while 23 countries abstained.

The resolution calls on Israel, the occupying power, to implement the decisions related to the occupied Syrian Golan, especially Security Council Resolution No. 497 of 1981, in which it affirmed that Israel’s decision to impose its laws and jurisdiction on the occupied Syrian Golan is null and void and has no international legal effect. Israel demanded it. The occupying power should immediately cancel its decision and stop changing the urban character, demographic composition and legal status of the occupied Syrian Golan, and in particular stopping the establishment of settlements.

The resolution stresses that all measures taken or to be taken by Israel, the occupying Power, with the aim of changing the character and legal status of the occupied Syrian Golan are null and void, and constitute a flagrant violation of international law and the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of August 12, 1949, and have no legal effect.

The resolution also calls on "Israel" to stop imposing its nationality and "Israeli identity cards" on the people of the occupied Syrian Golan and stop its repressive practices against them and denounces "Israel"'s violations of the Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilians, and once again calls upon the member states not to recognize any of the measures taken by "Israel" in the Golan occupied Syrian.

By a majority of 146 members, 7 against and 20 abstentions, the General Assembly adopted a resolution calling on Israel to immediately and completely halt all settlement operations on the occupied Palestinian lands and in the occupied Syrian Golan, and to implement relevant Security Council resolutions, stressing that settlements on these lands are illegal.

Earlier this month, the General Assembly adopted a resolution by a majority of member states calling on the occupying entity to withdraw completely from the occupied Syrian Golan until the June 4, 1967 line, in implementation of the relevant Security Council resolutions. Civilian persons still apply to the Syrian territories occupied by “Israel” since 1967.
