An armed man was shot and killed in a confrontation with police on Saturday in London, an incident which is not considered terrorist, Metropolitan Police said.
Police said they were told around 3 p.m. (GMT and local) that a man with a gun was seen entering a bank and betting houses in Marloes Road, west London before get into a vehicle and leave the scene.

At 3:19 pm, armed officers stopped a vehicle at the junction of Kensington Road and Palace Gate
", not far from Kensington Palace, where Prince William and his family reside, police said.

Shots were fired and a man was shot and wounded

" continued in a statement.
Despite the intervention of the emergency services who treated him on the spot, the man was declared dead shortly after 4:00 p.m.
The incident is "
not treated as terrorism
", according to the police.
He was reported to the Met's Professional Standards Branch who reported it to the police.
Police explained on Saturday evening that the identity of the victim was not yet established.
