Seoul, SANA- South Korea plans to build the first flood-proof floating city capable of accommodating thousands of residents

 Seoul-Sana

South Korea plans to build the world's first flood-resistant floating city capable of accommodating thousands of residents in an unconventional effort to counter the effects of climate change.

According to the Sky News website, the city will be built on platforms that float on the surface of the water, rising or falling depending on its level, to avoid drowning, while the houses will take the form of floating platforms that are made to be moved later to their location in buildings up to 7 floors high.

The floating city will represent a solution to coastal areas threatened by inundation due to rising sea levels caused by global warming, one of the most dangerous effects of climate change.

The neighborhoods in the project will be connected to each other through a network of paths and paths that allow movement according to the group responsible for the design, and residents will rely on electric cars and solar-powered ferries to transport them to the mainland.

The city will be self-sufficient and waste-free, with hydroponic farms, clean energy plants, water treatment centers and rainwater storage depots.

The project, called Oceanics, will start off the coast of South Korea next year and is the result of a collaboration between Busan municipality and the United Nations Urban Development Agency, and is expected to be ready for housing in 2025 and when completed, it will accommodate 10,000 people.
